Mini-Festival and Launch–November 17 2023

On November 17 We’re launching Classical Mythology and Children’s Literature… an Alphabetical Odyssey, and what better way to do this than in good company.

We’re doing it in cooperation with the UNE Storytelling Hub, and the Our Mythical Childhood project, and endorsed by the Australasian Children’s Literature Association for Research.

The event will be held on November 17, from 2-8 pm, at the UNE Sydney Campus: 211 Church Street, Parramatta.

The programme has a wonderful line-up of talent, including authors, academics, students and musicians. I’ll be posting more as weeks go by, but here’s a snippet…

Storytelling workshop: Object Biofictions workshop, run by Dr Ariella Van Luyn and Dr Alina Kozlovski. Explore how working with objects from the UNE Museum of Antiquities inspires storytelling.

Talks by Hugh Crago (Self and Story), Olimpia Rosenblum (learning modern languages through Aesop’s fables).

Panel discussion on the meaning of myth and story for modern readers–Dr Ursula Dubosarsky, Stella Tarakson, Dr Margaret Bromley

Origami Oracles workshop with Tina Matthews

Musical interlude–Ode and Melody–Lionel Hobden, Jonathan Martinez

Attendance is free, but please register here, or email me at the address on the flyer, so we know you’re coming!
